Welcome to the new incarnation of The Heart of the Unicorn. Yes, it took longer than I'd hoped, but it's finally up. Things have been moved around a bit, and there's lots of new stuff. Head to the welcome section for a description of the new sections. The strategy page is still not complete, but there are some decks there. I'm still working out some kinks, so be patient. I hope you enjoy the new page. Let me know what you think about it.

Happy New Millenium all! I've been away from my computer for awhile, but I'm back.

I was surfing around for pics of samurai, and I found something kind of interesting about the artwork on Shinjo Yasamura. Click here to see.

A new mailing list called the Moto Dojo has started up at: http://www.onelist.com/subscribe/MotoDojo. It is a list that discusses the Moto family. Check out the webpage to subscribe.

Horiuchi Memei has started a Horiuchi Shoan Fan Club dedicated to finding our what happened to Shoan during the Clan Wars, and to try to get her reprinted (and Jade legal). There is a onelist mailing list here, and a webpage here.

The 12th Unicorn Letter is up! Go to the Letters section. Make sure you've read the 11th letter before you read this one. Some pretty interesting things are going on with Kamoko.

I've added a new deck to the Decks section. It's a military/duelling deck. It won a victory for the Unicorn Clan in one of the challenges made at Gencon '99. Thanks to Shinjo Reshuki (Sean Nordell) for submitting it.

I just read that all the official clan webpages are being re-evaluated, and they are looking for nominees. I would love a chance to be the official Unicorn page. If you would like to nominate me (they are going to pick a few candidates from the ones most nominated, and then vote) email Ed Bolme ( edwardb@frpg.com ) with the subject "Clan Page Nominations". In the body of your email, include the URL to this page ( http://www.holycow.com/unicorn ) and the clan you are nominating for (Unicorn). Hey all! I'm not dead, I'm just getting settled into the dorm at University (I'm taking engineering for those who don't know.) I changed ISP's and email addresses, so I've been out of the contact loop lately. I'll try to catch up soon so that I can give you a real update. If there's anything that I missed that you think I should post, please email me. Thanks!

I've made some updates to the People section of the page. I've added some of the information that has come from the new clan letters, as well as added some charactors that were missing. There is still some holes in this section, but I'm gradually filling them up as much as I can. If you are wondering how each of the unicorn charactors fits into the storyline, head on over and check it out.

Welcome to the new home for The Heart of the Unicorn! I'm still working out some of the bugs caused from moving my site, so pardon the mess. If you notice any glaring errors then please email me about them. I haven't really changed anything on the site, just the location. The next thing I hope to work on is providing more resources for the RPG. If anyone has any suggestions about what they think they would find useful, then please send them to me. I would really like this page to have what you're looking for in a unicorn page. Your feedback is very important and appreciated.

I got back from Gencon late last night. It was quite a weekend. I met a few people I know online, and made a lot of new friends. Shinjo Molly made her rounds finding people in Unicorn shirts and gave us a copy of the latest edition of her Gaijin Gazzette. I had lots of fun. I helped run the War in the Heavens tournament, which was great. A military monk deck won, which was a cool surprise. Unfortunately no Unicorns made it into the top 4, but the important thing was that Lord Onnutangu was defeated. Ree Soesbee graced us with the story of the battle, which I'm sure will be online soon. All in all, it was an exciting event, that I was proud to be a part of (even though I didn't make it through the qualifiers.) Here's a big Hello to all of you that I met there. (For people who can't remember me, I think I was the only female registering people for the L5R tournaments.) Hopefully next year we will be able to organize an all unicorn tournament so we can all meet, and play at the same time!

I've posted a new military deck to the Decks section. Thanks a lot to Otaku Mike for sending it in. It uses Magistrates to Duel, and Shugenja to dishonor your opponent. Be sure to check it out!

Well, it's almost time for Gencon! I'll be leaving Thursday night. The Unicorn Clan members from the listserve are planning on meeting right before the Midnight Madness Tourney on Thursday, so that's the place to be if you want to meet your clanmates. Hopefully I will be there on time, but I might be too late. I know for that at least one day, I will be wearing a dress made out of L5R cards, so I should be easy to spot that day. I'll probably be the one registering people for the big Tourney. Looking forward to meeting you all!

I've added a new page to the Links section. Shinjo Yomato has started up a Unicorn discussion forum called The Open Fields of the Unicorn Clan. Join in to discuss the current topics, or post your own. It's a great resource for communicating with other Unicorn players.

I've added a new deck to the Decks section: a Unicorn Honour running deck. Thanks a lot to David Claxton (Otaku Kerisho) for submitting this deck. You can submit your deck by emailing me.

I've added some new links to the Links page, including The Tao of the Unicorn, a great page for Unicorn Players to check out.

I've put together all the Honor Bound cards that I thought had information relevent to the Unicorn clan. Check them out here: honour.htm

Well, I've finally put up the new stuff. I've added a Decks section, exclusively for Unicorn Decks, as well as Lands and People sections made by Ide Ryoso. And there is also a Nemuranai section (magical items) for players of the RPG. Also, check out the History section, there is lot's more there thanks to Ide Ryoso. Thanks to Ide Ryoso, for providing all this stuff.

Lots of big news today. The Ide Library run by Ide Ryoso is going to merge with this page. Unfortunately I have not been able to to put the new stuff up yet, but keep your eye out. There will be much more added to the History section, as well as some brand new sections that deal with the people and lands of the unicorn clan. This is great reference material for players of the RPG, or CCG players who just want to get a better grasp on the Storyline.

Also, because of this fact, much of the page is under renovations, so don't mind the mess.You'll also notice the Decks link in the toolbar, don't bother clicking it, it doesn't work At least, not yet..

There have been many rumours going around that a Kami was returning in Houner Bound. Many thought it might be Shinjo. Now we know for sure, check out this new Honour Bound card:

Return of the Kami (R)
All players with Kolat cards in play, except the player (or players) with the most Kolat cards in play, must destroy their rightmost Province.

Her eyes were the stars in the heavens-- a sign of the Celestial Kami. "Behold the light!" she cried, and I knew her name: Shinjo.

I played in a Pearl Edition tournament on May 23rd (it was sealed deck format for those who don't know). I didn't place, but I won more games than I lost, so it wasn't too bad. I was playing Dragon, which is a clan I've never played before. But I did pick up a unicorn starter, and here is a picture of the new Unicorn ancestral item: the Otaku Nage-Yari.

You can click the image to see a larger copy. It costs 7 gold, has 4 focus, gives you 2 honour when brought into play, and gives a +2/+1 bonus. The ability is the same for all clans and is: Bow the Otaku Nageyari. Target any one opposing personality whose chi is less than the number of Unicorn personalities in this army. Send the target personality home bowed.

Well, it's been a while since my last update. I must say that I haven't done anything new to the site, so there's not much to report. I just started my summer job, which is full time, so I can't devote as much time to the site as before. I am still alive, however, and will continue to update the site when something interesting comes along.

There's been a lot of topics come up in the unicorn listserve lately. Some propose we should ally with the Crane Clan, others say we should concentrate on ridding the clan of Kolat. If you are not currently on the listserve, you can subscribe at: http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/unicorn

Well, I've finally made enough updates that I've started a past news archive. Thank you all for making this page's first week a success!!

The Unicorn Dance page has had overwhelming response. Because of this, I've given it its own page counter, and I may add some stuff to it in the future. There are several people out there who are planning to make other "dance" pages with L5R themes. I appologize now for any dancing L5R characters you may see in the future. I probably should have left the hamsters to do their work, but I couldn't resist. :)

Wow, my first real update!!!

Well, the page has been up for 3 days now, and I've already got some feedback on it. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions and criticisms. Keep it coming, along with your decks and character stats, hopefully I will soon have enough to post them.

I added a little quiz to give unicorn players a chance to test their Unicorn IQ. Give it a try and see how much you really know about your clan!!!

There is still a lot more I would like to add to this page, but in the mean-time, I hope you like what is up so far. I want this page to be primarily a resource for Unicorn players (of the CCG or RPG), but I'll try to keep you posted on all the latest L5R news.

Here's some things I would like to add in the near future:

• Unicorn Deck Section
  Please email me your Unicorn decks, and feel free to add comments on strategy's for the deck. Decks can be serious, or fun, and any format (but specifying which would be nice). So send them soon!!!
• Unicorn Character Section
  Send me your Unicorn Characters Stats and Stories from the RPG. Let other people try out your character ideas!
• Whatever Else You Feel Like Sending Me
  Got some fan-fiction you'd like to share? Got some comments about the current state of the Unicorn Clan? Send me stuff, if I get enough response I'll post it! (PS: I'm hoping to start a fiction section my self about a unicorn character I thought up...so stay tuned for that!)

About Me and This Page

I've been playing the Legend of the Five Rings card game for a little over a year now, and have been playing the RPG ever since it came out. I've always liked the story behind the Unicorn Clan, and have found Unicorn characters to be fun and challenging to play in the RPG. I started this page because I wanted to provide Unicorn players with a resource to share ideas and keep up to date on Unicorn news. I've found that most of the Unicorn pages out there are lacking in content and organization, I hope that this page will be an exception. I can't stress how important your comments are. I want this page to be for you: the Unicorn player, and I'll try my best to make this a page you'll visit often and find usefull.
