Necklaces!!

I’ve been on a necklace streak lately.  I made a few long stranded necklaces on silver chain.  One is mixed silver beads, one is glass pearls, and the third is crazy beads made of seed beads on wire tangled into a ball.

I’ve finally done it!

After years of people telling my I should sell my jewelry online, I’m finally doing it!

I’ve thrown a couple listings up on Etsy, a site that specializes in hand made goods.

Why not eBay you may ask?  Well, I love eBay to death, but haven’t had luck selling my jewelry there.  Ebay doesn’t feature handmade goods seperate from manufactured things, so it’s hard to compete.  The listings on Etsy are less expensive, though you get a lot less exposure than you would on eBay.  If business goes well on Etsy maybe I’ll expand to eBay as well.  On the other hand, I find that supplies on Etsy are expensive and I still do most of my buying on eBay.

Wish me luck!

Magazine Beads Project #1

I’ve been working on a few necklaces using the recycled magazine beads I made a while ago.  Here’s the first one:

thrift stores + mystery bags = awesome!

I stopped by the thrift store last weekend and picked up a mixed bag of costume jewelry for $7.

Here’s my loot, laid out after I washed it. Loki helped of course.

There were some beads that will definitely make it into my wardrobe rotation, including some long dangley white faceted disks that really catch the light, and some deep red seeds of some type.  Some I think I can re-craft into something cool, and a few things are just plain ugly. Including a giant pile of faux pearls in a very unfortunate peach colour.

Mixed in with the necklaces were these two treasures:

I am waiting for the time when that button will come in handy.

It’s hard to see from the picture, but Mao’s hand actually waves back and forth each second.  It is a truly amazing sight.  Unfortunatley, it doesn’t keep proper time.  I will be looking for a good home for this gem.
