I almost didn’t click on a news article saying that Adobe had hired the co-inventor of Image Resizing technology. I thought “Wow, that guy must be old. We’ve been resizing images for ages.”

Your are correct. We have been resizing forever but this is way more than I would ever have thought about. This technique does change the original picture (scale) but the advantages are huge.

The ability to crop things out of photos without making a noticeable absence is incredible! It’s going to be even easier to “photoshop” images to show what you want, which is good and bad at the same time.
I saw the shoreline pic demo’d tonight at the SIGGRAPH show at the Vancity theater.
