Toren updated his blog with a picture of a Mutants and Masterminds villain named “Rust”. He was pondering how to color it and I thought I’d give it a whirl, just for fun.
Note that I really have no drawing talent at all — I have a good eye for design, but not a good hand for actually creating it. Taking that into account I’m pretty proud of what I came up with. It was a real brain-twister for me to figure out where the highlighting and shadows go. I’m just not used to thinking that way, and I’m sure I’ve screwed up in several places.
Toren made some notes about the character’s skin colour. I went with the grey hair because it seemed right. She looks older, wiser, and her powers (corrosion effects) might have actually removed the colour from her hair.
I could see that you were trying to figure out the shading but it’s not bad, and I tend to agree that grey/silver hair does look good. I will try it dark though too and see how that looks. Overall, a great job.
