UPS Sucks

I love living in Canada but thanks to the Internet I do a lot of cross-border shopping. Of course things I purchase have to get up here somehow and many sellers in the US insist on using UPS to get shipments here.

No problem right? They charge me for shipping costs, hand it to UPS and pay them to ship it and it arrives, right?

Wrong. Every time UPS takes a shipment across the border they charge you a “brokerage fee”. This fee is supposed to be based on the value of the shipment but in my experience it’s been a ridiculous cash-grab. A few years ago I found some great gloves for street hockey online and ordered two pairs valued at about $100 total. When the UPS guy arrived at the door he told me I owed $70 in brokerage fees.

That’s right, the shipping costs had been paid already. UPS got their money for what they do and had not told their customer about any additional costs, nor had they contacted me in advance about it. They bring the shipment right to you, wave it under your nose and then tell you about the additional fee which amounts to a ransom.

A few weeks back we had a warranty replacement for our notebook’s battery get shipped to us. The value was declared at $93 though we didn’t have to pay any of that, and shipping was covered by the manufacturer. Mel handled the warranty call so I didn’t know much about it. Imagine my surprise when the UPS guy shows up at the door with our supposedly free-and-paid-for battery and demands a $55 brokerage fee. I was flabbergasted but had no clue if we’d be able to ever get it without paying it so I handed over my credit card.

Never again.

I’ve had shipments come from the US from other companies such as FedEx and no such additional fee has ever been charged. UPS should be avoided like the plague for cross-border shipments. This fee is atrocious and they should be ashamed at themselves for bilking the recipients and for misleading their customers who think the shipping fee they’ve paid covers everything.

Screw you UPS, you’ve delivered your last package to my door. I invite everyone else to join in and boycott UPS for doing this crap.

Here’s a site that agrees with me. Funny that the messages that defend UPS are all people supporting the drivers and not this gouge policy. For the record, the UPS guys have all been polite and professional and it wasn’t their idea (as far as I know) to try to rip me off. I’m still boycotting them because of their bosses.

Yeah, I had a similar run in with them.

I had a package delivered from our company store across the border. The company agreed to cover all the expenses of our first order until they got all the cross border stuff sorted out.

Imagine my suprise when I recieved a letter from them MONTHS LATER that I owed them 10 bucks for the shipment that was supposed to be paid for.

I contacted our contact at the store and asked him about it, and they said that there should have been NO charges put through to me directly at all and that VUG should have already pre-paid for any shipping or anything like that.

now that I’ve seen this i’m going to contact UPS, get the scoop, and let my employer know not to deal with UPS again.

I am all for stretching out on the job, but last week I’m sittin on my couch and I glance out the window to see this UPS driver blocking my driveway with his truck. He is on the curb doing aerobics from the stairs of the truck. It’s around 11:00 A.M.. This guy didnt deliver to my nieghbor on either side of my house. I would have seen It. Too top it off I wasnt expecting anything.
Now I wait for my package 11:00A.M.. & there goes the big brown truck right past my house & keeps going. Then the whole barage of delivery trucks roll through my hood from FedEx too DHL. Hours go by. 1:00P.M. Ive not seen another brown truck & this is why I hate UPS. You need your package, that jerk is doing calistedics in front of my house. I neede my package, and this silly ass is doing drive by’s. Go figure!

I had a package that was supposed to come on December 23rd, 2005. When I tracked on http://www.ups.com on 23rd, it said that it was out for delivering, but I didn’t get it. So I called the night to schedule for a pickup the second day. I went there the next day and was told that I couldn’t pick it up because there was no delivering atempt “yesterday” and it was out for delivering “now”! So I went back home, but the package didn’t come that day either! I called again and was told that it was again arranged for delivering on the 27th. So I waited patientely on the 27th. Guess what, it did not come again! So I called again, and was told that it was holding for me to go and pick up. I said that I don’t want to go to pick up any more, please arrange to deliver it. So it was arranged for the 28th. But on the 28th, I still didn’t get it. So I called again, and was told again it was hold for me to pickup. This went on and on and on… BTW, I had an adult waiting for the package all that time. The UPS trucks were seen passing by my home, but they never stopped at my door! I still don’t have the package now. UPS sucks, it sucks, it sucks, it sucks!!!!! There are very few honest people in UPS. At least I haven’t seen any so far. I hate UPS!!! So, don’t use UPS to do shipping!

I agree, UPS SUCKS! I sent a package to my son in AZ by UPS 3 DAY EXPRESS. It arrived in Pheonix of the morning of Dec. 23 but was not delivered on time. Their excuse? “UNFAVORABLE WEATHER CONDITION”!! Are they nuts!?!? It is SUMMER TIME ALL YEAR ROUND in PHEONIX. They would not honor their guarantee as “they cannot control the weather,” they said. It was near 80 degrees out there that day. UPS lied about the guarantee and they are crooks to top it off!! I will NEVER use UPS again for ANYTHING EVER!

I was doing some research on the internet about those “infamous” fees and I found your website.
I hade the very same problem this very morning , 62$ brokerage fees , un vol en plein jour !! (a steal on daylight)… I pay Canapa Post 14$ to send the very same item to US west coast (priority service w/100$ insurance).

Last time “brown” do a thing for me … I’ll ask any seller that I bought from to avoid UPS if he want to sell anything to me by now ! I promise !

I ordered a $21 Cdn pet ionic brush that was sent via UPS with all shipping costs paid by the seller. But when it got to my door UPS wanted $19 in brokerage fees. I refused the order and the seller (sharper image) was kind enough to refund my money.
I also ordered used goalie equipment purchased on ebay for $500 and was charged $195 brokerage fee. The good thing is that I discovered there is hope. If the item you purchased does not come with a receipt then refuse the delivery and tell the UPS driver to have them hold it for awhile. Call UPS and tell them the declared value was actually lower and they made a mistake. Have the sender fax UPS with the correct value. It wasn’t a huge difference but at least I saved $30.
But I agree UPS sucks!!! They have a double standard - all orders coming into canada over $20 Cdn are charged brokerage fees but orders coming into the United States over $200 US are charge brokerage fees. I think we Canadians are too complacent sometimes - we need to be more vocal especially with companies like UPS.
Every chance I get I always mention to businesses how much UPS sucks so they don’t use them.

UPS is horrible, even inside the U.S..

I have been waiting for over a week for a delivery that should have been here yesterday. UPS’s tracking information tells me that the package has not been dropped off by the seller. This is a computer order from Dell, and Dell says that the box was picked up from their warehouse a week ago.

UPS does not keep their tracking information current, and it seems nobody in the company has any clue about what’s going on or how to locate a package that is apparently “lost in the system”.

I have never had a problem with FedEx. They are always prompt, and their tracking system is years ahead of the piece of junk UPS uses. Oh, and I haven’t had a problem with FedEx destroying my packages, which is more than I can say for UPS.

UPS sucks no matter where you live. I cannot understand how “brown” is still in business.

UPS Sucks..they are in such a rush to make a delivery that they don’t take the time to make sure the item IS delivered. My father is old and is a little slow at moving and hearing.Three times UPS attempted to deliver a package but left before waiting for my father to get to the door!He even left a note on the door saying that Please..give me a chance to get to the door before you leave and..Please.ring the door bell many times so I will hear it.No,the UPS guy was in such a rush that he left without waiting. My father never got the package and the company that sent it refuses to refund the money. All because UPS sucks.

UPS are the biggest scammers… A customs Broker is not even used for most Items under the value of $200.00…So UPS pockets it all!!!! I worked in the industry for 10 years and UPS is full of these kinds of unfair business practices!!!
If you go through a private customs broker the brokerage fees should cost between $7 - $25 depending on what you are shipping… It is not based on the value of the shipment its based on what classification it is….even though UPS says the opposite

I’ve had 2 bad experiences with the United Piece of Shit. The first, a INSURED laptop that showed up with a smashed screen. UPS wouldn’t even talk to us. Screwed out of $90 to replace the screen. The 2nd is going on now. Day one, they say no one was home. My father was home until after they close. Day 2, My dad calls them and arranges a pickup for the 2 laptops that should have been in my hands yesterday. They try to deliver to the house. Dad gets home, and to our surprise (being sarcastic) no laptops. Tonight, I’m tempted to break in and get the laptops. Any damages I do can be payed for by the $90 they owe me.

I am an ups employee, I hate that company, here is a tip if you get a brokerage charge just plead ignorance it should work if not just try again. When ever someone asks me for a refund if asked nicely I am happy to give them a no charge. I even give free shipping when we fuck up, but don’t ship with ups they don’t want your business and ups does not respect its employees. Be nice when you call, we get yelled at all day long and can’t do anything to help out the customer, we are told to just apologize.

Ordered 2 items from NewEgg.com, one of the boxes showed up in time, the other was supposed to show same day,it never did. I called UPS to speak to a human about it and I was told that “THE RECEIVER REQUESTED A HOLD FOR A FUTURE DELIVERY DATE. UPS WILL ATTEMPT DELIVERY ON DATE REQUESTED;DELIVERY RESCHEDULED[X]” an d then she said requested delivery date was 2 weeks later!! I told her nobody ever requested that, and told her dont bother to reschedule,IM coming to the facility to pick it up myself.
Thats one of many other problems but this was latest, also last week my brand new Dell24WFP was “LEFT AT FACILITY” which means the f@cking screwed up and lef package behind… I also went to pick it up in person to UPS facility..to hell with UPS.

I hate UPS! My husband ordered a camera on the web and had it mailed to me through UPS. Well, they delivered it in the morning when I was at work, and left a note saying they would try to leave it again tomorrow (guess what) when I will be working again! I called them and they said they can’t deliver after office hours or Saturday. I asked them where their office is in my city (to pick the package up) and it’s like 30 miles away! They said to call them tomorrow and give them my office address so they can try to deliver it there, of course, if the truck isn’t in route to my house just yet!!! I can’t believe this company only seems to cater to the business crowd, but to heck with residential customers. Next time we order something, we will try to make sure the company DOESN’T use UPS. Who runs UPS? A bunch of idiots who don’t care about the customer? Thanks!

I bought a $1.8K piece of equipment on ebay, the shipper did a foam in place box. UPS still managed to cave in the face of the unit. It was a heavy item, about 70 lbs. It hit so hard the item cookie cuttered the box in the outline of the item’s frame. I called and reported the damage, the guy taking the information asked if they could pick it up to inspect the damage and they would let me know what they found. I stupidly agreed, 2 days no word, so I called. They said “it’s ups policy not to give out information to the recipient, please check with the shipper we have been in touch with them.”. Shipper says we haven’t heard from ups. Today I call UPS and get the same “we’re not telling you squat”. So when I tell the rep, ok then I’ll going to report it to the police as a theft. He tells me to check the tracking site. There I see the unit was shipped back to the sender, without my permission, without telling me squat. Never UPS again. Not to mention their, use must accept our policies to get any tracking info from our site. I sent a a a 30 lbs (3 piece) stone fountain by ups, they reduced is to rubble. And the I had to dick around for hours to process the claim for the guy I was sending it to. I sent a 175 lbs version of the same (3 piece) stone fountain by FedEx, not a chip. United Pkg Smashers = Bunch of low life weasels. Always remember anyone’s “Our Policy” only means “we’re just doing what we want to do.”.

UPS sucks here in Italy, too. I ordered a PC from Dell and it should have been delivered on friday, but istead I got this error messare:
“THE RECEIVER REQUESTED A HOLD FOR A FUTURE DELIVERY DATE. UPS WILL ATTEMPT DELIVERY ON DATE REQUESTED”
False! I never requested that hold. UPS Sucks! (BTW, it is the second time that I have a similar problem with UPS)

God dam I hate UPS! Do they have Retards or Monkeys working for them…or maybe Retarded Monkeys?…Sorry that statement gives UPS just a little to much credit. All of my packages have arrived in one piece (thank god, and I sorry for the other victims of UPS).

However I have NEVER had one package arrive on time…or even the day after. Take for instance; two days ago I was outside my office door smoking and the UPS driver cruses right by….I figure he was going to turn around at the end of the court (he actually cut down the alley). However a few hours later nothing, nada, zip. Where the hell did he go? So I called UPS to ask where was my package. The woman on the phone said that the “driver attempted to deliver the package and no one was at the location.” First of all the “location” is an office with 20 employees, and secondly the lazy basted drove right past me. She (woman on the phone) apologized…bla, bla, bla. She guaranteed me that the package defiantly would arrive tomorrow (yesterday). Again no package, followed up with another call form me…and of course I got some lame bull shit story how the package ended on another truck (like magic) and the package will defiantly arrive tomorrow…..I wont hold my breath..it is the 5th instance like this.

On another note “FedEx Rocks” With FedEx I have also NEVER received my package on the scheduled delivery date….You want to know why?….because they have always showed up early (1-2 days early). Keep up the good work FedEx. …UPS “You Suck Retarded Monkey Balls”

Fuck UPS they are the devils spawn ! I have a package they wont deliver deliver because they only nly deliver during working hours and a signature is required. They are closed on the weekends and wont deliver on weekends and the pickup center is 15 miles away. They will deliver to my work but but because i called them after seven pm they cant make the delivery for two more days ! UPS needs to be brought down !! They are not customer friendly !! Use Fed Ex, DHL or even the US mail before you use them.

    i hate ups!!!… omg
ok early yesterday around 9 AM i ordered a phone from T-Mobile
and they told me it wouldnt arrive until tuesday, so i said never mind
is there any way i could get it sooner? and they offered the Overnight shipping
so i paid TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS to have it shipped over night. I get on a bus
and come 2 hours to get back home [i'm in college and they dont mail PO box]
so i pay like 10 dollars to bus home and this morning i woke up and stayed home
ALL DAY WAITING for this package…when i called two hours ago they told me that the package should get here
before 7…it is now 7:40pm…i am just soooo pissed…i have never had a problem with
FEDEX…i mean when they tell you 3 days, damnit they mean 3 days or less…

Uyy I know…I fucking hate UPS. FUCK UPS.
I’ll never buy from any company that ships by them ever again. If you aren’t there between the hours of 8am and 5pm at any arbitrary time, they won’t deliver it. Hello, some of us work so we can afford the exorbitant price of the shipping. They wouldn’t even deliver the package though I left a signed note. I got home between the hours when they were supposed to come but they came too early, so I missed them anyway. I FUCKING HATE THEM. I HATE THEM. The place to pick up the UPS package is in the middle of fucking nowhere more than an hour in rush-hour traffic. I FUCKING HATE UPS.

Try http://www.fedex.com. After 15 years of UPS experience I got Fed-Up! I am a happy all Fed-Ex “girl” now. They come when they say, they are careful with my merchandise. There is real people that give real service. On top of everything they cost a lot less. I save from $3.00 to $8.50 per package. My customers appreciate my change to Fed-Ex also. I even have the personal cellphone of my driver and I am able to communicate with him if I need to. When the driver arrives my packages get in the computer system right then and there and my customer gets notified of the delivery and see their tracking number. I LOVE FED-EX!!!!!!! :-) Sincerely, Gloria Thayer in North Carolina.

Suck doesn’t come close to describe what UPS does. Maybe it sucks feces - that’s why it is all brown. But dark brown for it has all dried up. Like all delayed packages. The theving company has a way to know the insides of a box and choose to keep the good stuff and never deliver. The person is then advised to inititate a track and trace with shipper. What a frigging scam. I have personal horror stories that I can’t bring myself to put down for it will send my blood pressure through the roof. Suffice to say, they suck, and they suck hard. Bunch of theiving sons of bitches - if youknow what I mean

My mother shipped a present for my daughter’s birthday, early enough so she should have received it on time. I waited for the delivery and it never came. I checked their website and it said the apartment number was missing. I called and found that was not the case. Appearantly, the UPS driver was robbed at my apartment complex 2 months ago, so he now refuses to deliver to anyone in my entire apartment complex. Ok, I’m sorry the guy was robbed, but geez, hundreds of people live there and drive in and out every day. It’s not a bad part of town either. It’s Houston, Texas not a war zone!

Anyway, I tried to see if we could compromise and he could deliver all the resident’s packages to the office, that way he wouldn’t have to go to individual apartments and would feel safer at our complex. The office in on a busy street and there are always people in the office and the driver might be safe. Wrong, the guy refused and they want me to drive across town for 45 minutes to pick up my package from their office. Lol! Right.

I told them, send it back to my mom and give her a refund. I will have her send it by Fed-Ex.

    UPS Sux
I ordered US $600 of camera lenses from Shenzen in China. The package was sent, registered with clearing agency in Australia Perth, released by clearing agency, was in transit for delivery. The package never arrived, infact UPS denied that the package even entered Australia.

So apparently with all these scans, registrations and releases, the package wasn’t actually physically scanned, allowing them to deny responsibility for it. This is a complete lie. UPS were trying to tell me that the package was never there, and that the clearing agency, never cleared the package. How can you clear a package that doesn’t exist?

UPS are a rouge corporation that have no moral concern about anything. This is yet another example of carelessness, and yet again proves the corrupt nature of people working in the transit / flight industry.

Don’t trust UPS with anything of value! Be warned, there is a good chance it will never arrive and that you will not be reimbursed for the value of the goods.

The package arrived in San Francisco at 4 o’clock this morning and all those idiots had to do was bring it to petaluma (which is only an hour away). I called ups and all I pretty much heard them say is “I don’t even know what is going on hear and we don’t know anything about your package.” Now supposedly they`re a really good mailing service!? How friggin long is it supposed to take ? All this scanning bullshit seriously fucks with your head—especially if your awaiting a shipment from a european pharmacy–tsk tsk, it’s like breaking a condom, and worrying if you knocked up that girl at BUFFALO WILD WINGS

You know. Just right now I am dumbfounded by UPS. I’ve been tracking my package which was sent out on friday, and of course they dont deliver on Saturday. I selected the UPS 2-day shipping and I was sure that it would come tuesday.
Today is Tuesday. The packaged arrived at my city @ 4:38AM. It still has a scheduled delivery date for Wednesday.
I called them and they said I can’t pick it up until its scanned for delievery tomomrrow wednesday, which of course there is no point to go and get it since they will deliver it to you.
I think from now on, I will spend the extra few bucks on shipping and go with Fed-Ex or USPS. I will never do business with UPS( U Poor Soul)

Stupid UPS. I bought myself a birthday present off EBAY. A brand new massage table. The company I bought it from only ships UPS so I figured, fine i will pay the fees because I want it and life has not been to kind to me lately so I thought it would cheer me up. The 45lb package was shipped from BC to me in quebec and only supposed to take 4 days. I paid 75 dollars to get it here. It was shiped out on the 3rd. We are the 12th today and I have still not got it. It was supposed to be here on the 10th so okay, I waited around and nothing. I called UPS to find out that well, it might already be in the warehouse but no one had got around to scanning it yet. I tracked it and the last time it was scanned was in BC. I wrote to custumer service to express my concern. They replied with, Oh, well the guy tried to deliver it but you were not home! Bullshit, this is the third day I have waited around for him. The new delivery dat is today. I saw the guy drive right past my house/! Yeas, i will boycott UPS with you, no problem!

In the past week I recieved one package and shipped two others. All three have not been on time, but when you track the package online it states times such as 10:18, 10:21, and 9:49 putting it right under the gauranteed delivery time of 10:30am. I have called UPS and the UPS store where I shipped from to no avail. They state that they have no way of altering the times but that is BS. If this has happened to me three times in a week it must be happening to many more. This could be Class Action. That would straighten them up.

Gadzooks! It is a wonder UPS has any customers at all. I did a quick search under “ups sucks” and got a result of 1.6 million web pages!

UPS just screwed me too. I bought a $30.00 item on ebay a month ago, and sent the guy the money for both the item and the shipping. A week ago, a notice shows up from UPS informing me that $4.00 in tax was added when the item crossed the Canada / US border, and in addition to my having to pay the tax, which I don’t mind, I would have to pay $17.00 in brokerage fees for the privilege of being told about the $4.00 tax. Thanks to Screw-PS, my $30.00 deal on ebay has been turned into a $70.00 rip off.

UPS is a piece of shit. My service type was 3 day select and it was for out delivery like at 6am, but the package never even arrived that day. I will never order from a company that uses UPS.

  38. Gravatar Icon 38 Cavalier Jun 22nd, 2007 at 4:02 pm

    Fuck UPS, Seriously..

I shipped an item through them once a few years ago, from Australia to the US. I was told that since i wasn’t a regular shipping account customer, I would have to pay Cash at time of shipping. Ok, no problem there. I pay the cash, the package was shipped… it even got to the recipient on time!! (Holy Fuck, how’d they screw that up??)

    BUT!!

Every month since then for the following 9 months I received an invoice for them, telling me I owed them the shipping fees (yes, the same fee I had already paid).. I sent letters back with copies of the initial invoice that was paid at time of shipping, all signed and dated and stamped “PAID”, and the fuckers STILL kept sending me invoices demanding payment..

After 9 months, they then sent me a letter stating that unless they received payment in 7 days they would take me to court for the money.. I sent them back a letter telling them, quote: “Suck my fat hairy ass. See you in court.”

Long story short, court date comes, UPS lawyer makes a pretty speech about how I owe them the shipping fees and yada yada yada.. all up they try to claim the $50-odd in shipping fees, plus $900 for “account keeping expenses” to follow up on my tardiness in payment, plus $25000(!!!) legal fees..

My lawyer stands up, holds up a copy of the paid invoice and says, He was told to pay in cash at time of shipment,. He paid, they received payment, marked the invoice as paid, and delivered the package.

Judge looks at invoice, shows invoice to UPS lawyer guy. UPS lawyer guy asks for 3 month saty of proceedings so UPS cab check their files (3 FUCKING MONTHS?? How do they file shit?? “seek and ye shall find” method??)

Judge tells UPS he can have all the time in the world to search his files, dismisses their case, and basically calls them assholes.

Next month, I get a letter from UPS again…. yep, demand for payment of the invoice. (Are these guys just THAT fucking stupid??)

My lawyer guy sends back a letter saying “you took this to court already. You lost. You send another letter to my client, and I’ll sue your asses, collectively and individually, for $200 million in damages for harrassment and mental anguish.”

UPS has never sent me another letter….

Fed-Ex now delievers all my packages… and all my friends… and all my family…

  39. Gravatar Icon 39 SkooberHouse Jun 28th, 2007 at 2:28 pm

    Cavalier from Australia,

Mad fucking props to you. I hate UPS and would take heed to fucking kill the UPS guy if he ever steps foot on my lawn. Ok, maybe not. But I am that pissed with UPS.

One time I had it with UPS and I said to the delivery guy that I wanted to do my own brokerage clearing. The guy took it back and I had to wait several days and then contacted them. They gave me their hub location; I then had to drive all the way to the fucking airport and pay off the Canadian Customs and then retrieve my parcel (btw this was for a cheap snowboard bag). After that, I was like “Great!”, nothing happened. There were no letters of any sort

So then many months later one of my sellers decides to ship UPS w/o notifying me. When the UPS guy came to my door, I was like “Fuck not again.” So I told the scrawny fuck I wanted to clear my brokerage myself again. So he takes back my parcel and I have to call UPS to arrange my self-clearing process again. So I drove to the airport again and cleared the fucking customs at the customs agency (which btw, the Indain parking attendant piece of shit there gave me a fucking parking ticket b/c I did not even know I had to pay for a parking ticket! Fuck his ass!). Finally I cleared to shitty UPS parcel and went home. Fuck, this experience actually costed me more money than I had [tried] to save my clearing my own package! To make matters worse, after several weeks UPS sent me a fucking letter stated I had to pay brokerage fees EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY CLEARED THEM MYSELF! I was pissed as shit. I ignored them for months until they sent me a letter stated they’d take my record to the collection agency if I didn’t pay up. I didn’t want to get ruined in my credit in any way, so I said FUCK YOU UPS one last time and then sent in my payment.

Fuck you, that’s not all. Another one of my sellers sent me a shipment via UPS (again) many months later. I said OMG YOU FUCK not again. Agian, I said to the uselesss UPS driver “I want to clear my own brokerage.” The POS took the parcel back again and I did the whole drive-to-the-airport scenario. Great I cleared my own parcel acting as my own brokerage. I was done right? WRONG. UPS (those fucks) sends me anorher letter weeks later stated I still had brokerage fees to pay. EVEN THOUGH I’D JUST WENT AHEAD AND DROVE MYSELF TO THE AIRPORT TO DO MY OWN BROKERAGE, WASTING AN INSANE AMOUNT OF GAS DOING SO! I was pissed enough, and again ignored this letter. But months later they sent me another letter saying they’d take me to collections if I didn’t pay up. So I didn’t want to get screwed so I paid up.

BTW, all these items I order are usually very low end, sports hardgoods, like skates or snowboard stuff.

My question is, if I ignore their collections letters what would happen to me? I don’t want to pay UPS any of their fucking rip offs, yet I do not want to get my credit screwed. The brokerage bills usually amount from $20 CDN to no more than $100 CDN. Would they seriously bother ruining my credit over such low amounts?

    I am so mad.

  40. Gravatar Icon 40 Ryan Jun 29th, 2007 at 9:38 am

I so agree!! UPS are a bunch of thieves. I just sent 2 packages on 6/8/07. One weighed 22 lbs, the other 18lbs. I talked to the girl on the phone to arrange a pickup and told her of the value of the items (Combined about $4000). I also told the driver, but guess what? Not one of them told me to fill the Declared Value in on Part 6 on the Waybill. So a long story short they lost the boxes and now a month later they want to offer me $100 for the items which cannot really be replaced.
I or anyone else SHOULD NEVER USE UPS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thankyou

  41. Gravatar Icon 41 UPS SUCKS Jun 29th, 2007 at 7:55 pm

    UPS sucks….

4 days no package, they’ve mixed up the address, then on some days they NEVER even tried to deliver the package but they LIE and say they did.

The supervisors have typically been rude. They claim I can’t get my package until money even if I go to their damn warehouse where they have people working. It’s not my FAULT they are late with my package.

THEY SUCK and I hate them for treating me like trash. I don’t care if I have to pay more money I’ll NEVER use UPS again.

  42. Gravatar Icon 42 Anthony Jul 11th, 2007 at 1:41 pm

yet another. FUCK UPS YOU FUCKING WORTHLESS LYING ASS FUCKING BASTARDS. where to begin.

Two weeks ago, i made an order on http://www.newegg.com. I ordered a $100 and a $20 case. both had a scheduled delivery date of 7/2/07. I received the $20 case, no problem, but the $100 one never showed. I called ups, and they said it was delivered. BULLSHIT. im home 24/7, and my office is on the front of the house with the window overlooking the front porch and driveway. I watched the ups truck pull up, and i personally was given the $20 package, but never got the 100. So for the past week I have been on and off the phone with ups, half the time they are saying, The package was insured for less than the price of the product, or The package was delivered, so we loose responsibility, and my personal favorite: Call your shipper and verify that the product was shipped. BULLSHIT. LIARS. there are fucking tracking numbers. Newegg never lied to me about shipments, worst I got was a double order, which is sposed to come Friday. gonna have fun with that one, I have to go thru the labels on 4 different boxes and refuse two of them, then get charged $40 on shipping fees, so i don’t get my full $200 back, only 160. BULLSHIT. now how the FUCK am i sposed to make my fucking internet bill, which is how I run my business?

  43. Gravatar Icon 43 Brandon Jul 17th, 2007 at 7:09 pm

I am in Canada and thus can’t order from NewEgg…however, I have family in Vegas (sister). So I order with their credit card, wire them the money and they send the package to me when it’s received.

So he calls me when he’s at the UPS Store and goes:
“Do you want me to send it priority for 70 bucks or 13 bucks for ground?” And I said, well I don’t need it RIGHT away, so I just send the cheaper version.

A week passes and today is the ship date…I’m sitting here waiting for it (day off, really have nothing to do) and updating the widget on my mac that has the latest updates from their site. And it’s been ‘on truck for delivery’ for the last 9 hours…”

So I leave and come back and there is a nice shiny yellow sticker on my mailbox that says they couldn’t deliver it because the front desk (I live in a Condo in toronto) didn’t pay the 88 (EIGHTY EIGHT!!!) dollar brokerage fee. The total cost of the package was no more than 250.

I was absolutely pissed, and had I not needed this item (It’s RAM for my Mac Pro for some HD footage that I will be editing) I would have just said “fuck you UPS take it back”.

So I’m forced to pay but I want to be there when the guy comes and delivers it tomorrow just so I can punch himi in the fucking face.

UPS left a note that said “Sign to have package Delivered” So I did and I put the note right back where he/she/dipshit put it. So I go to check the next day and there is another note right below the one I singed saying the exact same thing. Niether note has the (in person) box checked, only the sing to release box and the second note right under the note I have already signed. UPS drivers are fucking idiots! They are stupid! Yes if you work for UPS you are a fucking moron!!! Fuck UPS in each and everyone of thier sorry fucked up asses because if anyone can be that fucking stupid we do not need them on this planet any longer!!! Fuck you idiots!!!

I signed up for a UPS account one week ago and received a SPAM call from their 1-800-686-2700 phone number. It was dead air. I received it exactly one week to the minute after creating the account(I looked on the confirmation email they sent when I signed up). There is no way they ever intended this to be a call made by a person.
If you are going to sign up for an account there, I would highly recommend putting this number in your ignore list if you can do that. This is a very unprofessional practice by UPS and they should be very weary of continuing this type of practice.

I hate UPS too. They only deliver during working days/hours and won’t leave the package without someone to sign in person (it won’t do even if I sign on the notice slip and ask them to leave the package by my door). Who the hell has the luxury to skip work and wait at home for a package? Their station is so far away and out of the town. Why should I spend gas money after paying them the shipping fee? I could have asked a neighbor to sign the package, but our UPS guys are so lazy, they just buzz everyone with a package at the front door of my apartment and have us go pick up the packages. The only neighbor that is usually at home is an elderly with limited mobility. How could I trouble him to walk to the front door and carry the package back to his apartment?
Now, when I order anything online, I always ask them not to ship UPS. If they have to, I’ll let UPS make 3 delivery attempts before picking the package up.

They purchased our company back in 2004 and since then they have turned our company from a place that was almost fun to work at to a place that SUCKS so much becuase THEY ALL HAVE ANAL FREAKN ATTIDUTES - they have the biggest bunch of idiots running the place they are ruining our company. UPS Sucks Dog Ass…end of story. They beat my Schwinn Stingray to a bloody pulp (including leaving it in the rain) and are now stalling on paying out on the claim. It was “insured” for $350.00 and was packed and sent by a professional bike shop. It’s plainly obvious that it was severely mishandled and neglected beyond fucking belief. See my “delivery” photos…

I will never, ever, EVER use, send, or accept anything even touched by UPS…they demolish everything they get their rude, barbaric, retarded hands on, and then blame you for doing a lousy packaging job. They blame packaging instead of their godawful employees purposfully destroying the property of others. There’s even a forum (United Package Smashers)where a bunch of nasty mouthed UPS bullies gang up on poor victims and say crap like, “Yeah, we see your FRAGILE note written on the box, and kick the fucking thing that much harder”. Every time I see a “Brown” truck, I want to jump the driver and gouge his goddamn eyes out.

Unbelievable I tell you. UPS is by far the worst delivery service I have ever had. FEDEX’s tracking is pin point and extremely accurate. UPS’s sucks! Can you imagine getting a package that is only about 200 miles away from you home in 15 business days??? Not only that the tracking thingy that is available at their website has not been updated since they receive the package from the seller.

I WILL NEVER USE UPS AGAIN!

I just bought a PS3 as a gift and was marked as such asI didn’t want the person to have to pay for his present will ups charged over $150 for a present marked gift. UPS BLOWS I will only ask for FEDEX or DHL or any other service.

Here’s a personal update to my own blog post: My wife ordered some shoes on Ebay that ended up costing $70. She told the seller that she didn’t want it sent UPS and that regular post would be just fine. Unfortunately the seller didn’t send right away so to make it up to her she “upgraded” her to UPS shipping for free.

Yeah, right. It’s not her fault, but I think we all know where this is heading…

The package arrives at the door and sure enough for a $70 pair of shoes they want $29.55 in brokerage fees!!! There was another $9 or so for GST. I told the driver that charge was outrageous and an insult and I wasn’t paying it but that I wasn’t refusing delivery. I told him I’d pay the GST charge, but not the extortion/brokerage. He said all he could do was return the package to UPS at the airport and my wife could talk to them about it.

She did, and spent an hour and twenty minutes on their support phone line, making her way for CSR (Customer Support Representative) to Supervisor and back again. She’s a support Supervisor herself and knew exactly what she was doing.

The highest supervisor she talked to told her that they didn’t give out refunds on brokerage, and she got him to admit that the truth was that they don’t give out refunds ANY MORE — he admitted it with a nervous laugh and refusal to answer directly.

UPS will give you credit on your UPS shipping account if you complain about brokerage enough. All Mel could get from this was a $40 credit on a new UPS account they created for us, which made me furious and wish I had been there to yell at them. There’s now way I’m using that credit.

She informed the Ebay seller she got her package and warned her about UPS’s brokerage scam when shipping from the US to Canada and they immediately — and without being asked — credited our Paypal back the full $29.55 that UPS charged us. Ebay sellers rock. UPS SUCKS.

US Ebay Sellers: DO NOT SHIP TO CANADA USING UPS!

I was laughing my ass off at every one of you suckers up until two days ago. This is first time im using UPS and its gonna be the fucking last. On the 1st of nov. I come home from work to see a message in the mailbox. Sure enough after waiting a month for my PDA its finally here. Or so did I think. Next day I ran home early to catch the fucker before he leaves again. So I left at noon and waited the rest of the day up until I lost my patience and called UPS. Lame menopausal voice told me that “I” requested the package to be held at a “near by” UPS storage. The damn storage was a 45min away. I told her WTF! I never even talked to anyone about the storage, I work all day long, I dont have time for this shit. Sure enought the next day I got off work early ageing and drove all the way over there just to be handed over a 90 dollar bill. My fucking jaw dropped. I told her im not paying for this nonsense. And what did she do, she took it back and said “you dont pay, you dont get it, we’ll ship it back”. What could I do, I handed the cash and little dignity I had left, to get my fucking phone, only to find the the screen all busted, along with the rest of the accessories.
How these people stay in business is beyond me. I lost a day of work , paid 90 dollars for bullshit and wasted my gas because of their mental retardation.
I can sum up the story with 5 words ” I got fucked by UPS”.
FUCK YOU UPS , I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL , FUCKING COCKSUCKERS.

Hi everyone, until two months ago ups worked for me flawlessly but since September nothjing they did for me worked at all, here is what i had to say about it:

    “Dear people:
I am getting tired o fetching my packages elsewhere but my address.

There has to be a new guy delivering because this never happened before.

Even though my name, address and apartment number are on the packages: YOU KEEP DELIVERING ALL THE PACKAGES COMING TO THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX AT THE MANAGERS OFFICE !!!!
Sometimes valuable pieces of electronic equipment and the likes of it are being dumped in this office, in a corner on the floor up for the taking. and by the way nobody is signing receipt and never mind going to your sophisticated tracking system, it will show the packages still “on transit” .
All the secure online shopping is defeated by your employees laziness and mediocrity, better check who is training your crew because they are the weakest link and they are letting everyone down: Your team, the companies depending on you to make their deliveries and ultimately all the people that are paying to make it all happen.

    Guillermo Estrada
P.S. You can lie to a single person for a long time or you can lie to everyone for one moment, but you cannot lie to everyone all the time.”

And for the ups drivers that are taking shortcuts: It takes a lot people to keep a thousand heads of cattle together, to stampede them all you need is a guy falling asleep on the saddle.

Oh I hate those UPS bastards! It’s the brokerage fees that kill me. I’ve had eBay parcels show up at the door (always days later than promised) and the UPS guy wanting as much as $150.00. One time a UPS lady delivered an item and my wife answered the door. The bullshit brokerage fee was 30.00 and my wife said she didn’t have any way to pay. The UPS lady said,”No problem, UPS will send you a bill later.” and she smiled and left the package. Well I got the bill a month later and it found it’s way to the shredder faster than UPS can smash a parcel. UP THEIRS!!! I hate the fuckers!!

    http://www.poynerbaxter.com/UPS.htm

There’s a Vancouver based law firm filing a Class Action lawsuit against UPS for their outrageous brokerage fees.

I worked around getting over $50 in brokerage on an expensive items shipped via UPS by acting as my own broker. It took about an hour of my time with travel time, but basically, showed up at the UPS warehouse at the Airport, grabbed some documents, went to the Customs agency across the way from the airport (3 min drive) and went through customs with the documentation and paid my taxes and duty. Came back and picked it up from UPS with no additional fees.

It was extra work, but it certainly felt good to stick it to UPS for that $50 that they wanted to scam off of me.

Thanks to all! I don’t feel alone. UPS SUCKS, SUCKS and SUCKS. AS someone said, the US POstal Service is much better. I’ve been waiting for hours for two different packages and the driver ran off the street so when I called customer service, where no one had a clue as to how to satisfy an unhappy customer, they said he tried to deliver the packages but no one was home! THEY NEVER LEFT THE FRICKING NOTIFICATION! DAMN THEM! Their website said the packages arrived on December 13th and as of the 18th I still haven’t received them. Then I requested delivery to my office, but I’ll have to wait 2 more days because I called after 7pm. That is B.S. I hope UPS files for Chapter 7! On the other hand, I requested someone to ship me a package using FEDEX next day service at 4pm, and I had my packacge delivered before noon next day. THAT is Good Service! Thanks FEDEX for letting me have hopes on private shipping companies.

UPS can destroy anything. I ordered a safe from a large supplier (homak) and it was shipped via ups by them. 10 days after it was scheduled to arrive I returned home to find it on my doorstep. It looked like they had tied a rope around it and towed it behind the truck halfway across the country. The box was so damaged that I was able to remove it by sticking 1 finger into ONE of the holes and pulling slightly, with this the entire thing collapsed. The corners of the safe (all of them) were crushed, mind you this is not a delicate item, it’s a SAFE - 1/4″ plate steel !!! I don’t know how they managed to crush a corner made of 1/4″ thick plate steel maybe forklift polo or something. Unbelievable. I called to have them pick it up and replace it and they said they would. The next evening it was gone and a pick up ticket was in its place, now they say they never picked it up even though I have there ticket confirming that they did. Douglas Adams must have modeled his “Vogons” after these people.

Thank you, UPS for running over my package with your forklifts and other heavy machinery. The tire marks were a nice addition to the aesthetics of the torn, soggy, crushed box. I only hope that the delicate nature of my parcel did not cause your employees any trouble in the game of forklift hockey that they played with it. What was the final score ? I only ask so that I might take some solace in my fragile and irreplaceable items playing an important role in their glorious victory as I attempt to piece the remaining contents back together. Thank you UPS, I sometimes wonder why you bother to deliver them at all. It would certainly require less infrastructure to simply destroy them on site. In fact, perhaps you could merge with “Waste Management” and simply place all the packages directly in a landfill, rather than wasting the time and resources dragging them all over the continent to be destroyed.

And sure enough a slip was left on my gate, but the bell never rang!!! Do UPS people think I’m psychic or something? How the hell am I supposed to know they’re here to deliver when they don’t ring the bell??? What pisses me is that this is like the 4th time their stupid driver is like this.

I work at UPS in the International department in Southern California and I have to say I would never use UPS to deliver my package either.

Of course I work for a shipping company during the day and UPS at night so during the day I know the tricks of sending a package to other countries such as Canada without the customer receiving any extra fees. It sucks that UPS corners people to paying great amounts of fees when all their employees are underpaid. Not to mention “Fragile” means nothing to UPS.

Thats why I use FedEx to deliver my packages to my house.

And to the response before mine; if you have a gate drivers will usually not go in unless noted. Its lame I know.

Just so you know most of the management at UPS are just promoted package handlers( a job a monkey can do). Dont expect much from them!

    Bye!

I agree UPS sucks big time! I purchased a gift from a U.S. company for a friend in Canada. Well, it made it up from the States no problem, but as soon as it got to Winnipeg (horrible piece of shit city by the way DON’T EVER go there unless you are armed to the teeth), they friggin’ held it for payment, then sent it back down to L.A.! Here I am tracking this package and see how it went back down to L.A. because of some payment that wasn’t received while in customs in shithole Winnipeg. Well, I was not notified of such payment, so needless to say, I felt helpless tracking this thing and trying to figure out what the heck was going on. So fast forward a couple of days and it makes it’s way back to Winnipeg, then the information says that it is going to be accepted by the Receiver (which is my friend in Regina) upon payment. So I called the idiots at UPS and said, “What damn payment are you talking about?” and they said a customs payment of an additional $20.00, which my friend has to now pay when he gets this birthday gift, how friggin’ nice is that! This is on top of the $15.00 shipping charge I had to pay initially when purchasing the item. So not only does UPS suck but so does Canada “Communist” Customs!!!!!

  65. Gravatar Icon 65 Jim in L.A. Jun 10th, 2008 at 4:44 am

UPS has screwed me repeatedly. Last week UPS lied to me on the phone, point blank, repeatedly, leaving me waiting for over 5 hours for a delivery, and then delivered the very expensive package obviously damaged - huge gash in the side, and top crushed in when the box had large bright orange “fragile” and “don’t stack” stickers on all sides. Two weeks ago, they had me waiting well over 10 full hours for a pickup, missing their already hours long appointment window by almost 7 hours, with 4 calls in the meantime, each time saying the driver would be here in a few minutes.

Another prime example of how UPS is morally corrupt and deserves to go bankrupt:

I received a package COD using UPS a few years ago. I paid by money order. A few months later, without so much as a courtesy call or letter in the interim, I got a note from a collection agency for UPS as though I had not paid for the package, threatening to ruin my credit if I did not pay again immediately for the same package. When I reminded them that, yes, I did pay, obviously, or the driver would not have released the COD package, they admitted that they lost my money order, but then demanded that I go get another one on my own time and dime - i.e., that I should go spend an hour or more going to the post office to get a money order to replace the one they lost, and that if they subsequently found and cashed the old one, which *I* would be liable to the post office for after a replacement, I could ask them for the money back (yeah, right) and sue if they didn’t pay.

This was a flagrant violation of the fair debt collection practices act among other things, and if I knew then what I know now, I’d have sued them right then.

For the rest of you, I strongly recommend taking them to small claims court at every opportunity. If ever a company needed to be sued out of existence, it’s UPS.

And for the UPS employees, I and millions of other people hope every single one of you loses your job and becomes unemployable for having worked for such an abominably run, lying, cheating and stealing organization. Bastards.

I ordered a mini computer from the States and the seller used UPS, ultimate piece of shit. The package was supposed to be in my hand 3 to 5 days of shippments and surprise surprise, not package yet.I used my office address since they don’t want to wait for me to get home from work (which is less than 5 mins away). I specifically stated that the reception is on the 9th floor of my work. I have seen couriers go in and out of the reception area all the time and yet UPS put a comment on the tracking saying that they needed a suite number. Are they just being dumb or are they lying because they did not meet their dead lines? There is no suite numbers since 9th floor and majority of the building is occupied by the same company and I have already called several times to confirmed the address. When I called back, they put on the tracking as having the wrong address when I did not even change the address. They are such liers. Next time I buy my things online, I will not buy things from companies that only ship with UPS.

UPS manages to screw up every time. USPS or FedEx is way better in every way…why do companies insist on using this piece of shit company to deliver their goods. Awful service,
