Well, it’s 2005. Didn’t do much celebrating last night. Mel & I stayed in and played City of Heroes while listening to Radio Clambake which I think I’ll become a regular listener of.
Earlier in the day we, along with Dave Schneider, went to Costco to get groceries. Right inside the door those bastards had their electronics display which included 40GB iPods for $469. I’d been teetering on the edge of buying one. I plan on being more mobile this year, and really wanted something to listen to while at the gym or out and about and when you compare about $120 for a measly 128MB player to the 4x-as-expensive but 160x-as-much-storage iPod the choice is pretty clear (unless you go for the “don’t buy either” choice, but boo to you, luddite).
So I looked with puppy-dog eyes at the wife, who rolled hers and said “Well you were thinking about it already, is that a good price?” Well yes, yes it is. Future Shop is selling the same model for $529, I pointed out.
So yeah, I own an iPod. It’s pretty damned cool and I’m not even all that familiar with it. The interface is brilliant and could probably only be improved upon with some science-fiction like mental control system.
It’s a good start to a year. Here’s hoping that continues.
