The Today Show’s website has a streaming version of today’s brief interview, where Neil reveals that Neil Jordan (In Dreams, The Crying Game) will be the writer and director of the live-action Graveyard Book movie.
The 2009 winner of The Newbery Medal is Neil’s “The Graveyard Book”!
The John Newbery Medal is a literary award given by the Association for Library Service to Children of the American Library Association (ALA) to the author of the Outstanding American Children’s Book. The award has been given since 1922. Together with the Caldecott Medal, it is considered the most prestigious award for children’s literature in the United States. It is named for John Newbery, an 18th century publisher of juvenile books.
Neil is ecstatic on his Twitter feed, and points out you can listen to the entire book on the Mouse Circus Video Tour page.
Neil’s been twittering during the press junket where he posted a link to the Coraline Press Junket on Kitty’s Neverwear blog.
Neil says this is the first Coraline trailer he’s liked, and I can see why.
