Sandman T-Shirts

I get a lot of requests for information on Sandman merchandise - t-shirts, posters, etc. Graphitti Designs is the company that does most (if not all) of the Sandman-related t-shirts, so it’s the best place to start looking.

Hey, if you order something from them, tell ‘em you followed a link from here. Maybe I’ll get a t-shirt or two out of the deal.

Lucy Anne posted some news on a Books of Magic movie:
From http://www.comics2film.com/c2fa-b.htm#BooksOfMagic

Reported by ZEN, Issue #264,
The latest ZEN e-mailer reports that Neil Gaiman has signed on as an executive producer for the Books of Magic movie. Gaiman created the characters and concepts of the DC/Vertigo comic which is in production at The Canton Company. Gaiman told Zentertainment that the filmmakers “want to make sure that the Tim in the movie is the Tim from the original books of magic series.”

Nathan Kahane, Creative Executive at The Canton Company confirmed the Gaiman appointment for C2F recently.

Endless PVC Set

Daniel M. Perez found some info on Endless PVC Sets:

I just saw in Wizard magazine (the current issue with Dr. Doom and the Joker on the cover) that there will be a release, close to X-mas, of a PVC set of The Endless. Yes, these are the same figures that comprise the pewter set, only cast in PVC plastic, and selling for $20 - $25. They look really cool in the photo, and I’m hoping that the painting job is halfway decent (or I’ll be forced to repaint them myself!).

I’m wondering how big Lance Smith’s head is to contain all this information:

The Sandman pocket watch and the Jon Muth Sandman shirt are both out. So trundle on down to your local and check them out.

Vertigo’s Winter’s Edge has been pushed back to December 2. This is the collection with the Death story illustrated by Jeffrey Jones.

The new edition of the hardcover Preludes and Nocturnes has been delayed until next week, 11/18.

If you haven’t picked up a hardcover edition of The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Gold Fish and you want one, you better start looking now. White Wolf is completely sold out. The trade paperback version should be along shortly.

A Fall of Stardust, the Karen Shaffer benefit book, has been reformatted and will be released February 1999. Instead of a comic, the title will be released as a shrink-wrapped portfolio and a chapbook with a new short story by Gaiman. The list of contributors includes William Kaluta, Jill Thompson, Linda Medley, Jeff Smith, Mike Mignola, Michael Zulli, Paul Chadwick, Geoff Darrow, Dave McKean, Moebius, Trina Robbins, Terry Moore, Rebecca Guay, Bryan Talbot, Gary Gianni, Zander Cannon, Sergio Aragones, Stan Sakai, Mark Crilley, Lisa Snellings, Brian Froud, P. Craig Russell and more. Ooch. The portfolio is priced at $12.95

Check out the cover of Impulse #44 out this week.

The Avon Books homepage now has a link to a Smoke and Mirrors page. That page has a link to a somewhat updated Neverwhere page and a copy of Troll Bridge. Here’s the URL to the Smoke page:

Avon also has a page for Stardust. Just an overview at the moment. Visit it at:

Nothing new on the Spike page, but if you want to check, the page is:

Some odds and ends:

- The November/December issue of Cinescape has a review of Smoke and Mirrors. It’s all the way back on page 81. For the most part it’s a positive review, but the reviewer (Annabelle Villanueva, now there’s a name) states it has a “work-in-progress” feel with some of the stories not quite there yet. Any other reviews out there yet? I’ve seen the ones at Amazon.com and the one in Locus.

- Option: Click, the latest Dave McKean book of photography is out. If you liked the last collection (Small Black and White Lies, yes? My brain is blank at the moment) you’ll like this one. Of special interest to this newsgroup is there’s a short bit of Gaiman e-mail used in the book. I’m afraid you’ll just have to look.

- Hope you’ve all warmed up your wallets ’cause the Endless pewter sets are out this week. If you try to buy a set without warming up properly you’re liable to pull a muscle or, more likely, your wallet.

- Last week’s issue of The Comic Shop news had the Sandman 10th anniversary poster on the cover. Lots of info on the Sandman paraphernalia on the inside, but it’s that poster I really like.

- A Fall of Stardust has had to undergo a format change and will be resolicited for a later date. The new version will be two chapbooks with 30 art plates shrink wrapped together and will be released in February. It’s still a benefit book, so your $12.95 will go to a good cause.

– The Dustcover postcards offered in last months Previews have been cancelled. This is the second set of postcards that DC has canned. There was a DC universe boxed set cancelled earlier. Must not be cost effective.

- The Girl Who Would Be Death (which doesn’t contain the real article) has been pushed back from its prime pre-Halloween article to the following week, November 4th.

A&E Reviews S&M

Lance found a review of Smoke & Mirrors in the A&E section of Thursday’s Daily.

Lance, watch out for Cancer Man - you know too much:

We got a preview issue of The Girl Who Would Be Death #1 (which will be out next week) and along with the other Endless references, there was one pertinent to this group.

During the negotiation for the price of the Magdalene Grimoire the following line pops up:

“Ten thousand and one hour with the girl, and the book is yours. Otherwise, I have a client in Minneapolis whould would no doubt happily pay the full fifteen.”

Lance Smith, who thinks fifteen thousand is dirt cheap

Hmm… maybe Lucy & Lance should team up and form the NG-Files…

The Dreaming is out there!
